On December 17, the Nashville Metro Council voted to approve the country star’s request for a sign to be hung above his bar — This Bar & Tennessee Kitchen — nearly seven months after the Metro Council denied the permit application. It’s a small victory for the singer, who in recent years “has been struggling,” an insider exclusively tells Life & Style.
Earlier this year, he was hit with felony charges for throwing a chair off a sixth-floor bar rooftop; in 2021, a video was unearthed of him using a racial slur; and in 2020, he faced misdemeanor charges when he was arrested for public intoxication. On December 12, Morgan, 31, was sentenced to one week of incarceration for the chair incident, to be served at a DUI education center, as well as two years’ probation — one year for each of his misdemeanor charges for reckless endangerment.
For now, he’s staying out of the spotlight. “After wrapping his tour, he decided to take time for himself and just be with his son. Morgan kind of disappeared. He was supposed to attend some events in those months, most notably the CMA Awards, which named him Artist of the Year. But he decided to lay low. The court case has been a big wake-up call for him.”
