PHOTO: Michigan Spartans Player No. 83 Has The Same Last Name As A Big-Named NFL Quarterback, And Fans Are Losing Their Minds
Michigan Spartans long snapper Jack Carson Wentz has already become an internet sensation for one obvious reason.
Look at nothing other than the name itself. Jack Carson Wentz, almost the exact same full name as former Philadelphia Eagles star and current Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Carson Wentz.
We wouldn’t blame you if you had a tough time believing us, but this is legitimately the name of the Spartans’ long snapper.
Incredibly, the two are actually not related. It just so happens that Jack Carson Wentz’s handed him the same name to a future second overall pick and Super Bowl-winning quarterback.
And as you would have guessed, social media was completely losing their minds:
It would be one thing if their names were something like “John Smith”, “John Brown” or “David Williams.” But two men named Carson Wentz? You certainly don’t hear that every single day.
As for the game itself, the Michigan Spartans kicked off the 2024 season with a close 16-10 victory over the Florida Atlantic Owls. Michigan will try to improve to 2-0 next Saturday when they travel to Maryland to take on the Terrapins.
The 31-year-old Wentz (the NFL Wentz, that is) signed a one-year contract with the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs after a one-year stint with the Los Angeles Rams. The Chiefs open their 2024 season on Thursday against the Baltimore Ravens in the NFL Kickoff Game.
Carson Wentz Is Already On His 5th NFL Team
Unfortunately, injuries and inconsistent play largely derailed Wentz’s final years with the Philadelphia Eagles, who wound up replacing him with Jalen Hurts.
Wentz had disappointing one-year stops with the Indianapolis Colts and Washington Commanders in 2021 and 2022, respectively. The No. 2 pick of 2016 has accepted backup jobs around the league, but the good news is that he has a legitimate shot at winning a second Super Bowl ring on the defending champions.
