The 2023-24 season is shaping up to be memorable for Jayson Tatum. He helped the Boston Celtics hang their 18th banner at the TD Garden, breaking the tie with the Los Angeles Lakers to become the franchise with the most NBA championships.

Additionally, he was featured as the cover star of the latest basketball simulation game, NBA 2K25, and experienced the championship parade for the first time in his career. As the new season approaches, Tatum has already played in the first three preseason games, helping the Celtics secure victories in all of them.

Jayson Tatum sends postcards to his son Deuce during road trips

For an NBA player, traveling becomes a staple part of their work as the teams have to hit the road for days to cover away game stretches. In Netflix’s latest basketball documentary, “Starting 5” released on Oct. 9 and featuring Jayson Tatum, LeBron James, Domantas Sabonis, Jimmy Butler and Anthony Edwards, the NBA stars have explained their struggles of staying away from their families and loved ones for long periods.

Jayson Tatum’s son Deuce got a lot of screen time in the docuseries and during one segment of episode 4, Deuce shows the camera crew the postcards his father sends him while he is away on road trips. Tatum is heard narrating his opinion in the background while his son displays his postcards.

The Celtics star revealed that his son makes jokes about him being on road trips.

“He makes jokes about it, ‘Oh I know you gotta play basketball so you can buy me all these nice things,” Tatum said.

He said that they had an NBA map where his son hung all the postcards from different places in the United States. The “Starting 5” docu-series is available for fans to stream on Netflix with a subscription plan.
