Payton Turner spitting on DeVonta Smith (Photo via Fox)
The league might be looking to contact Payton Turner after his behavior toward DeVonta Smith.
Smith’s day was cut short as the Philadelphia Eagles faced the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.
The replay of the hit showed how badly he was hit, but it also showed New Orleans Saints defensive lineman Payton Turner seemingly spitting on Smith while he was knocked out on the ground without his helmet on.
That is something that cannot be ignored.
The Heisman Trophy winner was down for multiple minutes before walking off on his own power.
The team announced that Smith suffered a concussion and will miss the remainder of the contest.
DeVonta Smith had 79 receiving yards on seven receptions before he exited the game with a concussion.
Before his exit, Smith had seven catches, for 79 yards (11.3 avg).
Philadelphia will finish with Jahan Dotson, Johnny Wilson, and Parris Campbell at wide receiver as they try to improve their record to above .500.
Losing DeVonta Smith to a concussion means he might be out next week as well. That is not good, as he has grabbed at least seven catches in all three games in 2024.
