For the past few days, a rumor has been circulating involving the Montreal Canadiens and the trade market.

Well, in the past few minutes, the excellent David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period, alongside the renowned Dennis Bernstein, has confirmed that Kent Hughes is indeed working on finalizing a trade.

The Canadiens are in an interesting position because, yes, Kent Hughes is active and looking to acquire either a second/third-line forward or a defenseman to stabilize things on the blue line.
At the same time, he’s looking for players who will fit into his lineup long-term; he’s not interested in short-term solutions.
On the other hand, they have assets that could serve as short-term solutions for teams aspiring to win the Stanley Cup.

He believes these four names will interest teams, especially Savard and Evans.
