Carol passed away on a Tuesday at Monmouth Medical Center in Long Branch, New Jersey. A former Playboy bunny, she later became an essential figure in her son’s career by founding the fan club for his band, Bon Jovi, during its early days. Carol’s story began in 1959 when she joined the U.S. Marine Corps, an unconventional choice for women of her era, and it was during this time that she met her future husband, John Bongiovi Sr. The couple’s shared determination and work ethic became the foundation of their family. After marrying, they moved to Sayreville, New Jersey, where they raised their children before eventually relocating to Holmdel, New Jersey, where Carol lived until her passing.

In her final days, Carol was surrounded by family. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John Bongiovi Sr., and their three sons, Jon, Anthony, and Matthew. Her private funeral will be overseen by the Holmdel Funeral Home, reflecting the close-knit and private nature of her family.

When Jon was just 17 years old, his parents allowed him to perform at concerts despite the late hours and the challenges it posed to his schooling. “They were always there for me, which was amazing looking back,” Jon reflected. “I could come home at one or two in the morning from a gig, and they’d just remind me to be at school on time. It was my responsibility to balance both, but they let me chase my dreams.”

Jon’s own family reflects the strong values instilled by his parents. He married his high school sweetheart, Dorothea Hurley, and together they raised four children: Stephanie, Jesse, Jake, and Romeo. Their commitment to family echoes the values Carol and John exemplified.

In May 2024, Jon celebrated a milestone in his family as his son Jake married actress Millie Bobby Brown in an intimate ceremony attended by close family and friends. Both Jon and Millie’s parents were present, highlighting the bond between the two families.

Reflecting on the occasion, Jon expressed his amazement at the passing of time and the evolution of his family. “My grandchildren will have more English ancestry than Italian or any other heritage I may have. That must be absurd, right?” Jon mused with humor and pride.
