BBC bosses have faced fresh backlash after ‘complaints were made about Wynne Evans’ behaviour before he even joined Strictly Come Dancing’, it has been claimed.
The unscripted division of the broadcasting union Bectu is said to have previously raised concerns with the BBC about Wynne’s inclusion in the Strictly line-up, after members’ complaints about his behaviour.
While on Strictly, Wynne reportedly made an inappropriate joke in the make-up room, comparing the folds of his chin to a vagina.
He was later axed from the Strictly Live tour after being caught on video using the term ‘spit-roast’ during a photocall.
The allegations against Wynne are thought to have surfaced on Friday afternoon via the official social media account of Bectu’s unscripted branch.
In the post, Bectu which stands for the Broadcasting, Entertainment, Communications and Theatre Union added: ‘Is inappropriate behaviour only a problem when it’s caught on camera.’

A source revealed to The Mirror that the BBC wanted to talk to Wynne next week to discuss the ‘spit roast’ comment, which was aimed at dancer and presenter Janette Manrara, 41.
They said: ‘The BBC very much want to pull up the floorboards and have a good look around, and see if there is anything to answer about beyond the spit roast comment.
‘They are planning to sit Wynne down and have a frank conversation to him about his conduct.
‘The meeting is currently scheduled for the start of next week but they are well aware that Wynne is really struggling with everything, and his welfare comes first, so will give him as much time as he needs.’
MailOnline has contacted Wynne’s representatives for comment.
The BBC said: ‘Whilst we don’t comment on individuals, we have processes in place should anything be raised with us.’
Wynne who has already stepped back from his BBC Wales radio show, now faces an uncertain future, with his travel show Wynne & Joanna: All At Sea, with Gavin & Stacey actress Joanna Page under threat.

There are also concerns he may lose his long-standing Go Compare ad deal.
It comes after The Mail On Sunday revealed last week that Wynne – the tenor known for the Go Compare ads and a BBC radio presenter – was recorded crudely suggesting a three-way sex session with presenter Janette, using the hugely demeaning term ‘spit roast’.
In the short Mail On Sunday film, Wynne can be seen stood in the middle of a line-up of 20 celebrities and dancers as Janette, who hosts the TV spin-off Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, is summoned to join them. As she approaches, Wynne warns her with a grin: ‘Not too close to Jamie [Borthwick]!’
He then pulls a suggestive face at the actor, behind Janette’s back, as she moves between them. It is at that point Wynne makes his disgusting joke at her expense.
Seconds later, her dancer husband Aljaz Skorjanec, who was standing nearby, asks her: ‘Darling, are you OK?’ She replies curtly: ‘Yep.’
Following the widespread revulsion caused by the revelations in the Mail story, Wynne was replaced on his morning radio show on Monday by comedian Robin Morgan, who also stood in for Wynne while he appeared on Strictly last year.
Professional dancer Katya, was partnered with Wynne on 2024’s Strictly and the pair caused a stir when viewers noticed Wynne’s ‘wandering hand’ on the dancer’s waist and stomach which she firmly pulled back up, with them later insisting it was just a private joke between them
The Welsh star confirmed his departure from the Strictly live tour in a grovelling statement
A source told MailOnline the break was sparked by the furore surrounding his comment, plus the fact he is still mourning his older brother Huw, combined with the physical toll of being on the road.
He said: ‘I’ve agreed with the BBC that I’ll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing.
‘I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection.
‘Apologies to those I won’t get to see at the remaining performances and I’m grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.’
His girlfriend Liz Brookes is reportedly standing by him despite previous reports they had split after she was left ‘humiliated’.
The pair began dating in the spring of last year following the break up of his 16 year marriage.

Despite his tumultous time on Strictly, Liz supported Wynne throughout his time on the show and was often spotted cheering him on from the audience and sharing a sweet snap of them together, where she gushed she was ‘proud’ of him.
During his Strictly stint, it was revealed that Wynne had found love again with Liz after the breakdown of his 16-year marriage left him contemplating suicide.
He’d previously admitted he hit ‘rock bottom’ in the midst of his depression, stemming from the end of his marriage to Welsh violinist Tanwen, the mother of his two children, in 2016.
They pair had first met on a British Youth Orchestra course, where Wynne was starring in a production of Robin Crusoe.
