The Caitlin Clark effect has expanded overseas. The Indiana Fever rookie gained popularity in the US when she was in college at the University of Iowa. However, fans are now surprised by Clark’s popularity across Europe. Fans shared their reactions after they found out that the star guard is also popular in Iceland.

According to a post on X (formerly Twitter) from a Clark fan page, there are fans in Iceland who host watch parties to see the WNBA star play. Even more surprising is the fact that most of the games start at 11 p.m. in the European country, but they still show massive support.

An article from Iceland reported that a former national player for their country’s women’s basketball team, Helena Sverrisdóttir, hosts the watch parties. She isn’t alone in this, as Silja Úlfarsdóttir, a former athlete, worked in organizing the event.

“She just got done with college, all the other players have the experience. Most of them have already played in the Olympics,” Christinaki said (translated). “I believe that we will definitely see her on the team in a few years.
