Memphis-born pop superstar Justin Timberlake has postponed a series of Midwest concert dates to recover from a dual respiratory infection.
But fans in the Memphis area shouldn’t worry: Everything appears on track for Timberlake’s homecoming show on Nov. 23 at FedExForum.
In an Instagram post on Oct. 22, Timberlake confirmed he would be rescheduling his run of shows from Oct. 23 through Nov 2. after being diagnosed with “bronchitis and laryngitis.”
The Midwest dates on Timberlake’s The Forget Tomorrow World Tour — Chicago; Grand Rapids, Michigan; Detroit; Milwaukee, Wisconsin; St. Paul, Minnesota; and Columbus, Ohio — have all been rescheduled for February. Earlier in October, Timberlake also canceled a concert in New Jersey just hours before showtime, citing an undisclosed injury. That show was rescheduled for a week later.
Assuming his current recovery goes well, Timberlake will resume his fall/winter 2024 tour with a Nov, 8 show in Sunrise, Florida. He will continue the tour with further stops in Florida, North Carolina, Georgia, Kentucky and Knoxville, Tennessee, before a Nov. 23 concert at Memphis’ FedExForum.
Timberlake’s tour, his first in five years, has done brisk business in 2024, despite the publicity following his arrest on a DWI charge earlier this summer. On June 18, Timberlake was stopped by police in Sag Harbor, New York, part of the Hamptons, about 100 miles east of New York City. The singer was held overnight following his arrest and was released without bail following an arraignment. Timberlake didn’t submit to an alcohol test, which comes with a one-year driver’s license suspension in New York.
In September, Timberlake pleaded guilty to a lesser charge in the June incident. The Grammy winner pleaded guilty to driving while ability impaired, a noncriminal traffic violation. In addition to paying a fine, the singer agreed to serve 25 to 40 hours of community service.
“I try to hold myself to a very high standard. And this was not that,” Timberlake told reporters outside the courtroom after the Sept. 13 hearing. “I’d like to say to everyone watching and listening, even if you had one drink, don’t get behind the wheel of a car. There’s so many alternatives. Call a friend, take an Uber.”
