Loose Women host Ruth Langsford recalled her son Jack’s past 16th birthday party on Tuesday’s ITV show, where the youngster was “fuming” after she gatecrashed with pizza

Ruth Langsford admitted her son Jack was “fuming” after she gatecrashed his 16th birthday party with pizza.

On Tuesday’s episode of Loose Women, Ruth, 63, and her fellow panellists were discussing the topic: “Can you be a friend and a parent to your child?”, which prompted Ruth to recall her son’s, who is now 21, past sixteenth birthday celebration. Ruth shares Jack with husband Eamonn Holmes.

Talking about children’s birthday parties, Ruth said: “Jack did not want me to be there! I always remember, I think it was his sixteenth birthday or something he had friends over.

“I said I’d get pizzas, they were all [there], they had the kitchen, and Eamonn and I were in another room. Pizzas arrived and I went in, and because I know all his friends, they were like: ‘Oh, hi Ruth!’

“So I’m chatting away, handing out the pizza, I looked over, caught Jack’s eye and he went [while whispering]: ‘Go away!’, [he was] fuming, fuming! Literally, didn’t want me in there, didn’t think it was cool! He was just like: ‘Go away!’”

It comes as Loose Women took an awkward turn on Tuesday when host Ruth accidentally made a This Morning blunder. Prior to the ITV chat show starting, This Morning hosts Sian Welby and Dermot O’Leary headed to the studio to see what Ruth and her co-stars had in store on the programme today.

However, upon reading out the lineup, Ruth said: “Hello, yes, coming up on This Morning… not This Morning! You’re This Morning, we’re Loose Women. Force of habit, sorry!”

This Morning fans will recall that Ruth used to host the show on Fridays and holidays, alongside husband Eamonn from 1999 to 2022. Ruth remains as a host on Loose Women, where she has worked since 1999.

Elsewhere, new This Morning presenter Sian, 37, has sweetly praised Ruth for her support. The radio star, who is currently a host on the Capital FM Breakfast show after replacing Vick Hope, is one in a long line of presenters who have stepped in to help fill the void left by Holly Willoughby. This Morning bosses have been conducting a series of live auditions to see who best fits the ITV show.

Ruth Langsford’s son Jack may have been “fuming” at his mom for crashing his 16th birthday party with pizza, but it’s a memory that will surely bring a smile to their faces now.

As Ruth shared on a recent episode of Loose Women, Jack was not too pleased to see his mom pop in with the pizza while he was celebrating with his friends.

It’s a common dilemma for parents – wanting to be involved in their child’s life, but also wanting to give them space to grow and enjoy their independence.

This incident serves as a reminder of the delicate balance parents must strike between being a friend and a parent to their children.

Ruth’s desire to bond with Jack and his friends by sharing pizza may have backfired slightly, but it’s clear that her heart was in the right place.

Ultimately, it’s important for parents to respect their child’s boundaries and give them the space they need to forge their own path.

On the topic of TV blunders, Ruth recently found herself in an awkward situation when she mistakenly referred to Loose Women as This Morning during a live broadcast. The slip-up garnered a few chuckles from her co-hosts and highlighted the challenges of live television.

Ruth’s long history with This Morning, where she previously co-hosted with her husband Eamonn Holmes, likely contributed to the mix-up.

As Ruth continues her role on Loose Women, she remains a beloved figure in the world of daytime TV.

Her relatable personality and candid approach to discussing issues that matter to women have endeared her to audiences for years.
