In recent hours, it was revealed that a member of the Montreal Canadiens’ management summoned young Juraj Slafkovsky for a special meeting.
In fact, according to what has been revealed, a Canadiens executive called out Slafkovsky for his poor start to the season.
Today, we have an update on this matter.
It was Kent Hughes who summoned Juraj Slafkovsky for a meeting
Without using those exact words, the young Slovak forward has effectively confirmed, during an interview with the excellent Arpon Basu, that he recently had a very candid conversation with Kent Hughes.
«According to Arpon Basu of The Athletic, Juraj Slafkovsky revealed that he recently had an honest conversation with Canadiens general manager Kent Hughes.»

Slaff opened up and revealed what Hughes told him:
“Uhhh, how do I say it? Well, I got s***t yesterday from someone in the organization, I kind of had to wake up,” Slafkovsky said. “I had to wake up.
Sometimes it’s good to have meetings where you face the truth. I feel like it’s only going to get better from now if I do what I did today, get more touches, get more shots, and hopefully get some points.
– Juraj Slafkovsky
Personally, I love it.
I love the fact that Kent Hughes decided to have this type of meeting with young Slafkovsky, to speak frankly and try to spark something, and I love the young player’s reaction.
Slafkovsky mentions here that sometimes it’s good to have this kind of meeting to be told the truth directly.. and the truth is that the young player hasn’t had a strong start to the season.
«I feel like things will get better from now on, and I’m glad I got this little wake-up call.» – Juraj Slafkovsky
It will be interesting to see how Slaf responds on the ice in the coming games and throughout the rest of the season.
Juraj Slafkovsky, 20 years old, is a 6-foot-3, 225-pound forward who was, of course, drafted first overall in 2022.
This season, he has 14 points in 22 games, including only two goals.
He was recently moved to the fourth line, but has since been placed back in the top six, notably alongside Patrik Laine.
We believe in him!
