The Los Angeles Clippers pulled off an impressive comeback on Monday night, defeating the San Antonio Spurs 113-104 after trailing by as many as 26 points. With James Harden’s exceptional play leading the way, the Clippers improved their record to 3-4, even after losing key player Paul George in the offseason.
During the game, Harden electrified fans with his intense defense, especially in a sequence that involved guarding two of San Antonio’s rising stars, Victor Wembanyama and Jeremy Sochan. At a point in the game when the Clippers trailed 7-12, Harden began a defensive display that turned heads.
Harden, who made the HOF claim regarding himself and Russell Westbrook, first stripped the ball from Sochan, who then passed it to Wembanyama. Harden immediately switched to guard Wembanyama closely, preventing him from making any quick moves. After facing Harden’s relentless defense, Wembanyama struggled to get a shot off, ultimately forcing a shot-clock violation.
In the shot-clock violation rule, once a team gains possession, they have 24 seconds to make a shot that hits the basket rim or goes through the hoop. If the team doesn’t attempt a shot within that time, or if the shot doesn’t hit the rim, they lose possession of the ball, as Harden did with Wembanyama until the clock ran out.
James Harden Excited About Clippers’ First Home Win At Intuit Dome
The Clippers celebrated a significant milestone on Monday night, securing their first victory at the Intuit Dome with a win over the Spurs. Following the game, James Harden shared his candid thoughts about the momentous occasion.
“I thought this shit was cursed at first. Steve came in here making jokes about it. But to finally get a win at home, man, I feel good,” Harden said.
Harden played a crucial role in securing the win. He finished the night with 17 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 assists. Additionally, he contributed defensively with 4 stocks, which included 1 steal and 3 blocks.
