Jannik Sinner made an admission about his competition with Carlos Alcaraz after clinching a massive $6million at the Six Kings Slam exhibition, where he bested the world No. 1 in the final.

Sinner confessed post-match that he “wakes up in the morning” obsessing over how to defeat the four-time Grand Slam titleholder.

The Italian pro and Alcaraz rekindled their on-court battle in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, with Sinner eager to score a win after losing thrice to Alcaraz in tour-level matches this year.

En route to the final, Alcaraz triumphed over Holger Rune and Rafael Nadal, while Sinner ousted Daniil Medvedev and Novak Djokovic, marking his second victory against the Major champion within five days.

Despite his impressive victories, Sinner’s mind was set on overcoming Alcaraz, which he did by rallying from a set behind to seize the Six Kings Slam title with a 6-7(5) 6-3 6-3 scoreline.

“These kinds of rivalries and players always push us to our 100 per cent limit. I’m very happy about this today.”

“These kinds of rivalries and players always push us to our 100 per cent limit. I’m very happy about this today.”

While Alcaraz is a constant thought for Sinner, he maintains a positive rapport with the world No. 2, noting, “We understand each other very well. We travel a lot, we are I would say good friends, not obviously the best of the best.

“We also like to share every time we go on the court, we try to enjoy it. Until now every match was very good level-wise.

“Hopefully this rivalry will last as long as possible, but there are so many other great players who can jump in, which is so exciting. Let’s see what is coming in the future, nobody can tell.”

Sinner didn’t just earn the boasting rights over Alcaraz at the prestigious Six Kings Slam, he also pocketed a cool $6m for his championship victory – that’s half of his total prize money for 2024.

The current world No. 1 has already clinched two Grand Slam titles this season, and along with five additional ATP Tour titles, his earnings have hit a staggering $12m.

Furthermore, even just participating in the Riyadh exhibition earned the additional competitors a hefty $1.5m for their efforts on the court.
