Justin Timberlake was out drinking with Estee Stanley, the celebrity interior designer, on the night he was arrested in Sag Harbor on DUI charges, despite trying to claim he only had one martini.
The Sexy Back singer was stopped on June 18 after departing from The American Hotel, with the officer who arrested him failing to recognize the celebrity even after he revealed he was due to go on tour days later.
He had ran a stop sign before being pulled over and detained by the young local law enforcement officer, before later being punished with a $500 fine and a surcharge of $260, as well as 25 hours of community service for the transgression.
According to PageSix.com, the 43-year-old was out to dinner with Stanley and her husband, Bryan Furst, although this is not unusual considering the pair have enjoyed a close friendship since at least 2012.
Stanley met Timberlake through Jessica Biel, his wife, and the former even went on to host the married couple’s engagement party in 2012, before launching a business venture in the same year with a further one following in 2016.
“This was really a collaboration with Estee,” Timberlake said of Stanley in 2012. “I don’t think I would do it if we weren’t in it together.
“We’ve known each other for a long time and have worked together on my homes-we really have a like-minded vision.”
Officer details Timberlake condition when arrested
Timberlake’s claim he only had one martini was backed up by staff at The American Hotel, who said that if the musical star and actor consumed more alcohol then it wasn’t on their property.
But all the same, the officer who stopped him detailed his condition at the time of the arrest and it seems clear he wasn’t in condition to drive.
“A strong odor of an alcoholic beverage was emanating from his breath,” the officer wrote in his report. “The was unable to divide attention.
“He had slowed speech, he was unsteady afoot, and he performed poorly on all standardized field sobriety tests.”
