Destanee Aiava wrote “god motherf***ing damn it c***” on social media minutes after her fiery defeat to Danielle Collins at the Australian Open.

The home star was embroiled in a battle with Collins, who made her intentions clear towards the booing Aussie crowd on several occasions as she claimed a 7-6(4), 4-6, 6-2 win.

Collins cupped her ears to the crowd after securing victory, before taunting them further by blowing kisses in their direction and mocking them in her on-court interview.

But shortly after walking off the court, having reached the second round for the first time in her career, Aiava fumed on X (formerly known as Twitter) while replying to her own post with “loser” and a GIF of herself.

She deleted the posts just over 30 minutes later, explaining: “I’ve been advised to delete my tweet but I screenshot it for memories.”

Aiava had nothing but kind words to say about Collins in her press conference, saying: “I thought it was a really good match. Better than I expected. Yeah, all credit to Danny. I think she played really well when it mattered. It was just fun to play in front of the big crowd again.

“I think I showed myself this week that I do belong here. I’ve known it for quite a while. But actually putting it into action and doing it is completely different. I think I did that this week.

“Hopefully the rest of the year goes similar. If not, that’s okay, too. At least I’ve had a really good week here. That’s all that matters.

Meanwhile, Collins took aim at the Show Court Arena crowd that had been antagonising her throughout. At one point she told them to “shut up” after cheering a double fault during the three-set classic, before pushing back when victory was secured.

“I might just take that big fat pay cheque,” Collins said as a chorus of boos attempted to drown out her comments. “Coco (Gauff) and I love, we love a good five-star vacation. So part of that cheque, is going to go towards that. So thank you guys, thanks for coming out here and supporting us tonight.”

In her press conference she added: “One of the greatest things about being a professional athlete is the people that don’t like you and the people that hate you, they actually pay your bills. it’s all going towards the Danielle Collins Fund. Bring it on. I love it.”

With Collins’ victory, the 2022 finalist set up a third-round clash with compatriot Madison Keys having already banked £147,452 for her ‘fund’ this week.
