Grizzlies coach Taylor Jenkins voiced his frustrations after the game, but the Mavericks’ performance on the court remained the headline. Doncic showcased his full potential, leading the charge for the Mavericks with 37 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists. However, the game took a contentious turn when Doncic was hit with a controversial technical foul.

The incident occurred as Doncic was defending Memphis star Ja Morant. When Morant drove to the basket, Doncic was whistled for a foul. Doncic expressed his displeasure and waved his hand to dismiss the referee’s call. The referees quickly responded by issuing him a technical foul.

Video footage captured Doncic’s reaction, which included visible shock and a pointed verbal response. Fans and social media detectives analyzed the clip and widely speculated that Doncic uttered the phrase, “f******g p**y” to the referees.

On ESPN’s NBA Today, Kendrick Perkins shared his thoughts on Luka Doncic’s performance and the Mavericks’ victory over the Grizzlies. While Doncic was a standout in the game, Perkins claimed the importance of the supporting cast in securing the win. Perkins highlighted several key players who have stepped up for the Mavs this season.

“If I had the game ball, would it went to Luka? Hell no! Luka had so many moments, but when you think about the supporting cast, This is the best team that Luka has had since he put on a Dallas Mavericks uniform. Spencer Dinwiddie has been phenomenal; P.J. Washington, Dereck Lively, and Daniel Gafford—the best lob threat guys in the game—have been playing well,” Perkins said.

The Dallas Mavericks boosted their season record to 14-8. Their next game is against the Washington Wizards on Thursday.
