Despite the loss, three-time NBA MVP Jokic created history with his triple-double.
With the win, Cleveland improved their season record to 20-3 and are comfortably sitting at the top of the Eastern Conference standings. On the other hand, Denver lost their ninth game to manage an 11-9 record and are placed eighth in the Western Conference standings.
Cleveland Cavaliers’ Team Effort Overshadows Nikola Jokic’s Historic Night
Nikola Jokic continued to be phenomenal for the Denver Nuggets this season as he recorded his 139th career triple-double on Thursday. The Serbian center registered 27 points, 20 rebounds, and 11 assists to surpass legendary Magic Johnson in the all-time triple-double leaders list. The Nuggets star is now only behind teammate Russell Westbrook (200) and Oscar Robertson (181).
Apart from Jokic, Michael Porter Jr. scored 24 points, followed by Jamal Murray and Aaron Gordon with 19 and 18 points, respectively. Despite Jokic’s huge performance, the Nuggets lost the game against the Cavs by 12 points.
Donovan Mitchell led the Cavaliers in scoring with 28 points, shooting 6-off-10 from beyond the arc. Darius Garland scored 24 points for the Cavs. However, Caris LeVert and Evan Mobley’s efficient outing helped Cleveland edge out Denver.
