Dax Shepard had Joy Behar feeling “nauseous” as he recounted the first time he made a move on his wife Kristen Bell on this morning’s episode of The View.
The couple, who has been married for 11 years, first met at a mutual friend’s birthday party hours after Shepard had broken up with his then-girlfriend. With the girlfriend’s ex-husband also in attendance, Shepard said there was “a lot happening” that night.
“I kind of missed Kristen,” he admitted. “The only thing I remember is that she had gotten a 20% coupon for Bed, Bath and Beyond that day in the mail and she was planning her whole next day around these savings. And I thought, ‘Well, this is very charming that a movie star is that pumped about 20% off of home furnishings at Bed, Bath and Beyond.’”
According to the actor, he reconnected with Bell three weeks later at a Detroit Red Wings game, where they instantly hit it off.
“She was chewing gum. And I said, ‘Do you have another piece of gum?’ And she said, ‘I only have this.’ And then I took it and I put it in my mouth,” he told the co-hosts.
While most of the women seemed rather impressed with Shepard’s boldness, Behar stuck her tongue out in disgust and pretended to gag.
“Joy’s out! She’s out. I lost you,” Shepard said, to which Behar fired back, “That’s disgusting. Would you use her toothbrush too? That’s disgusting.”

The Parenthood star then sent the stunned audience into roars when he added, “Joy, it’s telling her, ‘I’m not afraid of things that were in your mouth. I hope my lips are there soon.’”
Acknowledging the mixed reaction, Shepard joked that half the audience was “in,” while the other half was “out.”
Behar, for her part, struggled to introduce the next topic.
“My question now is a segue about your children and I’m too nauseous to even ask it,” she scoffed.
