Former NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski has opened up on his health, revealing he’s been diagnosed with a serious form of cancer less than three months after leaving ESPN.

Woj dropped the biggest Woj Bomb of his career when he announced that he would be vacating his lucrative position with The Worldwide Leader In Sports to take on the role of general manager of the men’s basketball team at St. Bonaventure.

The erstwhile news breaker has maintained a low profile since his departure from the network but is now back in the news as it’s been revealed that he has prostate cancer.

Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix has published a profile on the 55-year-old in which he disclosed he is dealing with the disease. According to the piece, he was diagnosed in March.

“When you hear cancer, you think about it going through your body like Pac-Man,” he told the publication. “Prostate cancer, it generally stays confined to your prostate and is typically slow growing.”

On a brighter note, Woj noted that his cancer is “pretty limited in scope,” and he has no symptoms.

Adrian Wojnarowski’s Diagnosis Was A Factor In His Decision To Quit ESPN

Wojnarowski somewhat admitted that the diagnosis influenced his decision to leave ESPN.

“I didn’t want to spend one more day of my life waiting on someone’s MRI or hitting an agent at 1 a.m. about an ankle sprain,” he remarked.

He also noted that there were many people he expected to see at ESPN icon Chris Mortensen’s funeral who did not attend.

“It made me remember that the job isn’t everything,” he said. “In the end it’s just going to be your family and close friends. And it’s also, like, nobody gives a [expletive]. Nobody remembers [breaking stories] in the end. It’s just vapor.”

Wojnarowski was one of the most respected journalists in basketball before he walked away and that he’s going through something this serious is disheartening.

We wish him the very best in his battle against cancer.
