In March 2016, D’Angelo Russell secretly recorded Nick Young admitting that he had cheated on his then-fiancée, Iggy Azalea. The video quickly went viral and contributed to the breakup of Young and Azalea. Although a former NBA star advised him to move on from the incident, Young still harbors negative feelings toward Russell.
During a recent appearance on Gil’s Arenas’ show, Young finally revealed why he never confronted his Lakers teammate Russell for snitching while he was with Iggy Azalea. He explained that he didn’t have the opportunity to address Russell because Lakers GM Mitch Kupchak intervened to prevent any physical incidents between the teammates.
“F***ing (Lakers GM) Mitch Kupchak and them told me, don’t come to the arena, don’t come to practice, none of that. If you do anything we gonna take your money. Then when I got there, there was security there all-around. So, I couldn’t get a chance to (beat him up)… Once I seen him the next season, s*** had died down then.” Young said.
Later in the episode, the host, Gilbert Arenas, asked Young whether Russell intentionally uploaded the video. At first, Young said he wasn’t sure, but later he said, “Yes, how else it got there? How else do it get out there?”
Nick oung Rips Into Clippers Forward For Underwhelming Effort
During his professional career, Young showcased his talent over 12 seasons while playing for six different teams, including notable franchises like the Washington Wizards and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Even though he is retired, his opinions on current NBA games remain relevant. The former NBA player criticized Los Angeles Clippers forward Derrick Jones Jr. for his disappointing performance in a recent game.
“Knew this stupid mf jones jr was gonna play like who he really is a dum mf … he mess up my money lol that’s why u dnt bet on liquor store nig**.” Young wrote in his latest post on X (formerly Twitter).
Throughout his time in the league, Young participated in 720 regular-season games, demonstrating his scoring ability with an average of 11.4 points per game. He also won an NBA championship with the Golden State Warriors in 2018.
