WNBA star Angel Reese challenged NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal to a free-throw contest, but it didn’t go according to her plan. The two former LSU standouts spent time together on the court and Reese thought it was a smart idea to challenge the former LA Lakers star to a shooting challenge.

When it comes to making free throws, Shaq isn’t the first person that fans usually think about. In his career, the four-time champion only knocked down 52.7% of his shots from the charity stripe. Because of that, Reese was confident to make a bet with the former star.

The Chicago Sky rookie made a bet with O’Neal that if he made the shot, she’d give the 15-time All-Star $100k. Unfortunately, the 7-foot-1 big man made the shot in his first attempt. Watch the video below to see O’Neal knock down his shot.

“$100,000 if you make this shot,” Reese said.

Neither Reese nor O’Neal confirmed if the WNBA star honored the bet. But it looks like the two were simply having fun on the court.

“He would’ve missed ts if it was my parlay 😂🤦🏾‍♂️” another fan made fun of Shaq’s poor free-throw shooting.

“He’s always said he makes em when they count,” a fan said.

Other fans had some jokes for Reese.

“She just bet 2 years of her contract😭,” one fan mocked.

Shaquille O’Neal is a big fan of Angel Reese

Both O’Neal and Angel Reese are former LSU student-athletes and because of that, the former NBA star has followed the young star’s career. The 1993 Rookie of the Year became a mentor to Reese because of their LSU connection. When she made her WNBA debut, her mentor was present to show support.

“Angel is like a daughter to me,” O’Neal said about Reese.

Reese is fortunate to have a legend like O’Neal become one of her mentors as she’s just started her professional career. Fans are looking forward to seeing her dominate the WNBA the way Shaq dominated the NBA during his time.
