After a solid 119-99 win over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, the Dallas Mavericks faced a nail-biting 114-113 loss to the Phoenix Suns on Friday night. The game saw standout performances from both teams, but a controversial moment involving Suns center Jusuf Nurkic and Mavericks star Luka Doncic stole the spotlight.

Late in the game, Nurkic was called for a foul against Doncic, and a clip of the play quickly went viral. Surprisingly, the footage showed that Nurkic hadn’t made any actual contact with Doncic. But Doncic was seen on the ground, seemingly in pain and claiming a hit to his lip.

However, Doncic had a stellar game, leading the Mavericks with 30 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. His teammate Kyrie Irving added 29 points, seven rebounds, and six assists, contributing to a strong overall performance that kept Dallas in the game until the final moments.

However, Nurkic came through in a crucial way for the Suns. With only 0.8 seconds left on the clock, he made the second of two free throws, securing Phoenix’s win. Nurkic finished the game with 15 points and 10 rebounds.

Luka Doncic Speaks On Klay Thompson’s Transition To Dallas

This offseason, Klay Thompson made a big move from the Golden State Warriors to the Dallas Mavericks. However, he’s still finding his rhythm with the new team. After the Mavericks’ recent win over the Chicago Bulls, Luka Doncic shared his thoughts on Klay’s adjustment period during an interview with NBA TV.

“I think we’re still trying to figure out. You know it’s not easy to connect with a guy right away. It’s like I think me and [Kyrie Irving], we needed some time to connect. Now we have all three on the squad, so obviously we’re going to need some more time, but it’s getting easier and easier figuring out how to play with him,” Doncic said.

In the Mavericks’ latest game, Thompson contributed 12 points, along with four rebounds and two assists. With the Mavericks’ facing the Denver Nuggets on Sunday, the team will have another opportunity to continue building their chemistry. They will also look to fully integrate Thompson’s skills into their game plan.
