As we reported in the past few hours, Patrik Laine has traveled with the team to Columbus ahead of the matchup against the Blue Jackets.
Clearly, he’s about to return to action.
When he returns, the Canadiens will need to make room for him in the lineup, and inevitably, a forward will be sidelined, especially now that Joshua Roy is in the picture after being called up from the Laval Rocket (reportedly for good, according to several sources).
Michael Pezzetta placed on waivers?
According to journalist Renaud Lavoie, via Le Journal de Montréal, the player likely to be pushed aside is unfortunately Michael Pezzetta.
This shouldn’t come as a surprise, as Pezzetta clearly no longer seems to be part of the organization’s plans.
He’s not playing, he’s constantly a healthy scratch, and even when there are injuries or unexpected situations, the Canadiens prefer to call up Lucas Condotta and play him immediately rather than use Pezzetta.
That says a lot. Clearly, Pezzetta is no longer in the plans.
So don’t be surprised if the 26-year-old forward is placed on waivers in the coming days.
Will he be claimed? That’s the real question, but many experts seem to think he will be.
«The other player who could be placed on waivers is Michael Pezzetta, who hasn’t played in a month and clearly no longer seems to be part of the team’s plans.»
Renaud Lavoie
He hasn’t played since October 27.
Will Michael Pezzetta indeed be placed on waivers? It’s very likely, but in any case, Kent Hughes will have to make a move upon Patrik Laine’s return (in the coming days).
And if it were your decision, what would you do?
