Caitlin Clark heaps immense praise on Kelsey Mitchell and talks on-court chemistry with Fever guard.

Indiana Fever rookie Caitlin Clark expressed heartfelt appreciation for her teammate Kelsey Mitchell following their 100-81 victory over the Chicago Sky at Wintrust Arena in Chicago, Illinois on Friday. Both Clark and Mitchell have been pivotal in Indiana’s impressive run of form since the season resumed after the Olympic break.

After Mitchell notched her sixth consecutive 20-point game, Clark praised the veteran guard’s leadership and experience.

“I think it’s pretty similar on and off the court,” Clark told the media when asked about playing alongside Mitchell.

“She’s just been a voice that’s been there. She’s been through this league for what, seven years now? She knows what to expect. She knows how things are going to go. I think more than anything, we are just starting to understand each other much better.

The former Iowa star recognized Mitchell as one of the league’s best players based on her current performance. Moreover, she is enjoying playing with Mitchell, with whom she is forming a strong connection on the court.

“We could just make eye contact and she know to go back door. She knows to come and get the ball. That just comes with playing with one another. It’s been a lot of fun for me. She is playing so well right now, just as good as anybody in this league. I feel very lucky and fortunate to have her by my side,” the leading Rookie of the Year candidate added.

The 28-year-old Mitchell was exceptional in the win against the Sky. The veteran guard scored 23 points on 9-of-13 shooting from the field, including 3-of-5 from 3-point range.

Meanwhile, Clark had a career-high 31 points and included 12 assists to lead the Fever.

Kelsey Mitchell had earlier spoken about chemistry with Caitlin Clark

After the Indiana Fever’s 84-80 victory over the Connecticut Sun on Wednesday, Kelsey Mitchell opened up on her chemistry with Caitlin Clark. Mitchell admitted that her on-court camaraderie with the rookie is growing from strength to strength.

“I think the best part about it [playing alongside Clark] is that our chemistry continues to get better,” Mitchell said. “No one knew that we started this like four or five months ago and so we are just really getting acclimated on the chemistry side.”

“I value what Caitlin brings to the table … Not only does she have the pace in the space, but she could shoot the lights out the ball and you just got to be ready when your number’s called with a person like that,” the Fever guard added.

The Indiana Fever have hit a purple patch to begin the second half of the season. On the back of Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell’s brilliance, Indiana has risen to sixth place in the league standings after its latest victory and improved its record to 16-16 on the season.
