Novak Djokovic has confirmed his third tournament for 2025 as the world No. 7 is set to return to Doha for the first time since 2019.
In the past, the 37-year-old made four appearances at the Qatar Open between 2015 and 2019 and won back-to-back titles at the tournament in 2016 and 2017. After not going for a three-peat in 2018, the Serb returned to Doha in 2019 but fell two wins short of making it all the way after suffering a surprise defeat in the semifinal.
In late November, Djokovic announced that Andy Murray would be his coach for the Australian Open and possibly longer. Interestingly, their last meeting came in 2017 January – and it happened in the Doha final on January 6th – when the Serb won 6-3 5-7 6-4.“Novak Djokovic is back! The 2-time champion will compete in the 2025 Qatar ExxonMobil Open, now an ATP 500 event, from Feb 17-22 at Khalifa International Tennis Complex,” the tournament announced on Instagram.
A week before the record 24-time Grand Slam champion signed up for the Qatar Open, world No. 1 Sinner was announced for the event.
“We are excited to welcome World No. 1 Jannik Sinner to the Qatar ExxonMobil Open 2025. His presence, alongside a lineup of top players, will undoubtedly enhance the level of competition and offer fans an exceptional display of world-class tennis. Sinner’s remarkable achievements and skill set the stage for a thrilling event,” the tournament said in a statement last week.

Besides the Serb and the Italian tennis star, two other big names have also been confirmed – Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev.
It will be interesting to see if Djokovic will be accompanied by Murray in Doha and if he can win his third Qatar Open title in his return to the tournament.
