Trevor Noah stopped by The View this morning, where the comedian offered his take on the upcoming election — and his thoughts about what a victory for Kamala Harris could mean for the country.

While speaking with Noah, co-host Sunny Hostin mentioned his final episode of The Daily Show in which he “paid homage” to Black women, before mentioning that The View had just welcomed Harris on their show Tuesday (Oct. 8). She asked Noah, “What do you think America can learn having a Black, female president?”

He replied, “Well, I’ll be careful to prescribe certain learnings or ideas to one person. I think it’s important to note that when I said that I said Black women, and I think Black women as a collective have shown us many things, not just in America but all over the world.”

He then said most political systems running badly “impact Black women the worst,” adding, “If you ask Black women as a collective, as voters, what do you think should be done, whatever they do will inadvertently benefit everyone else.”

Noah also noted that his theory doesn’t just apply to American politics, but global politics as well.

“It’s a gift and curse,” he told the panel. “The curse is that Black women bear the brunt of all bad decisions … they don’t have a chance to mess around with the vote, they don’t have chance to have a ‘protest vote,’ so Black women see their country with a clarity most can afford not to at times.”

He then focused back on America and specifically Harris, telling Hostin, “I don’t know what America would learn, per se, because this is one Black woman.

He went on to explain, “But I think we’re already seeing that America is going to learn a lot of how it views a Black woman in a position of power, which some people might struggle to deal with because it comes with certain connotations for them.”
