The View is getting a brand-new look. The daytime talk show, which aired its season finale on Friday, August 2nd, will look very different when it returns in September. During Friday’s episode of the ABC show, co-host Sunny Hostin announced that the show would be moving to a new studio come next season. But where is The View filmed and where is the show moving to?
Where Is The View Filmed?
“After 10 years and 2,143 episodes, this is the last show we’ll do from this studio,” Hostin announced. This isn’t the first time the show has moved. From 1997, when the show launched, until 2014, the show was filmed at ABC Television Studio 23 in New York City, which is located at 320 West 66th Street, in the exact same building where All My Children also films. Since 2014, though, the show has been filmed at ABC Broadcast Center, which is located at Broadway and 44th Street.
Hostin, like all of us, might be happy about moving, but the process of doing so remains something no one really enjoys, and she joked about it during the episode. “We’ve had to, for the past couple of weeks, box up things, get rid of things… We were allotted, each host, five huuge cartons. I took up two, Sara [Haines] took up all five and was looking for more!” Hosting laughed.
But she didn’t just have jokes at the expense of Sara Haines. Ana Navarro was also a target. When you’re moving and struggling to pack things up, everyone’s fair game.
“And Ana [Navarro], please don’t say that you were a purger, because I think you had over 50 pairs of shoes in your [dressing] room,” Hostin also said.
Navarro had a quick comeback. “I’m feeling attacked!” She defended herself but quickly owned up to it. “They are all my shoes, I love all my shoes! I have no children, my children are my shoes. I’m a childless shoe lady!”
In the end, the set has a lot of memories, and Hostin admitted saying goodbye is bittersweet. “We’re sad to say goodbye,” Hostin added, “but we are thrilled to be moving to a brand-new studio downtown — brand-new, state-of-the-art — and we will see you there in September for the premiere of Season 28!”
The new season of The View will premiere after Labor Day. The show’s current lineup consists of Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Alyssa Farah Griffin, and Ana Navarro.
