The rapper and his father took pictures together at an emotional family event.

noop Dogg has got to get his signature ”cool” look from somewhere, and now we know exactly where.

On March 2, the rapper and upcoming 2024 Paris Olympics correspondent posted a picture of himself flashing a peace sign next to his father, Vernell Varnado, wearing similar blue outfits. In the snapshot, Varnado had his arm around around his son, and the two looked totally alike with their round brown eyes. The photo was taken at the repass service for Snoop Dogg’s brother, Bing Worthington, who died at the age of 44 in February.

”Family 👊🏿👏🏿💯 @popsnoop,” Snoop captioned the post, tagging Varnado’s very own Instagram account, ”Pop Snoop.”

”This is beautiful,” America’s Got Talent Judge Heidi Klum commented with a heart-eye emoji.

We also caught a glimpse of Varnado and Snoop looking strikingly similar together at the rapper’s 2018 Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony. The rapper revisited the moment in January 2024, sharing a picture of them standing together while he wore a Gucci sweater and Varnado looked spiffy in a gray suit. Naturally, they also both looked effortless in matching sunglasses.

What to know about Snoop Dogg and his dad, Vernell Varnado

Vernell Varnado is a Vietnam War vet who worked as a mail carrier in Detroit during Snoop Dogg’s childhood. Snoop, who’s real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr., grew up in California with his mother, Beverly Tate, and reconnected with Varando when he was around 12 years old.

When Snoop’s career was first taking off in the early ’90s, Varnado spoke to Spin about how he always knew his son had serious musical talent. “Snoop was always extraordinary. I thought he was a genius. Even when he was like six or seven, if music came on, he’d jump up and dance and perform all the hand movements,” he told the outlet.

In a 1999 interview with OC Weekly, Varnado talked about how he felt when he first heard his son’s 1993 hit “Nuthin’ But A G Thang,” which was a collaboration with Dr. Dre.

“Man, that was like the national anthem,” he proudly recalled. “I was out there delivering mail in Detroit, and everyone on my route was playing it, givin’ me love because everybody knew I was Snoop’s dad. It made me popular in Detroit. I mean, I’m a mailman, and my son is doin’ this and doin’ that?”

Afterwards, Varnado moved to Southern California himself to work in the music industry.
