The annual Grammy Award nominations were announced Friday. While it was a relatively quiet year for Memphis acts, a few Mid-South-connected artists were recognized. Frayser-bred hip-hop queen GloRilla led the charge with a pair of nominations in the rap categories, Memphis-born pop singer Justin Timberlake came away with a nom for his work on the “Trolls Band Together” soundtrack.A few other area musicians — including Mississippi bluesman Cedric Burnside and Stax Records legend Steve Cropper — were recognized in the blues categories.Memphis mastering engineer Brad Blackwood is also up for a nomination in the Best Historical Album category for a Prince box set he worked on. Here is a list of the Memphis-area artists who will be vying for Grammy gold at the award ceremonies in Los Angeles on Feb. 2.
