The Kansas City Chiefs squeaked out another closely-contested victory on Sunday night, taking down the division-rival Los Angeles Chargers with a 17-19 final score at Arrowhead Stadium.
Trailing by two in the fourth quarter, Patrick Mahomes marched the Chiefs down the field — converting on multiple 3rd-down plays to keep the drive alive. Kansas City got into position to kick a game-winning field goal after a 3rd-down conversion to superstar tight end Travis Kelce.
Matthew Wright, the Chiefs’ third kicker this season, knocked the ball off the inside of the left upright and through to give Kansas City its 12th win of the 2024 NFL season.
WNBA point guard Caitlin Clark grew up as a Chiefs fan in Des Moines, Iowa. After this thrilling victory, Clark took to social media with a four-word reaction.
“Bank is open …. CHIEFSSSSSSSSSSS,” Clark wrote on X.
With this victory, the Chiefs moved their season record to 12-1 and secured first place in the AFC West. The reigning Super Bowl champions notched their 10th consecutive playoff berth with last Friday’s Week 13 win over the Las Vegas Raiders.

Travis Kelce (87) and Patrick Mahomes (15) of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Mahomes completed 24 of his 37 pass attempts for 210 yards and one touchdown in the Chiefs’ “Sunday Night Football” win over the Chargers. Kelce led the way in the receiving game with five catches for 45 yards.
The Chiefs will look to continue their stellar 2024 NFL campaign in a Week 15 matchup against the Cleveland Browns next Sunday.
