Colorado Buffaloes two-way star Travis Hunter celebrated winning the Heisman Trophy on Saturday night, but the moment didn’t lack any controversy.
While some fans felt Boise State running back Ashton Jeanty deserved the award, another discussion started after cameras caught an awkward moment involving Hunter’s fiancée, Leanna Lenee.
As soon as Hunter was announced as the winner, his head coach Deion Sanders, quarterback Shedeur Sanders, and his mother immediately stood up to cheer. Lenee, however, stayed seated until Deion told her to stand, and she was also the first to sit back down.
The clip quickly spread on social media, drawing criticism from fans who questioned Lenee’s reaction.

One person who chimed in was WNBA star Angel Reese, who took the side of Lenee.
“leave that girl alone & let them be happy damn!” Reese said on X.
A fan replied to the Chicago Sky star, saying, “You know she wrong for not standing up 😂😂but that’s your boy I understand.”
“I don’t know that boy at all,” Reese then added. “I’m just supporting another athlete but why do yall care so much? AGAIN, they are happy. Yall wanna be internet relationship experts so bad. This is why we want to keep things private cause yall always gonna try to find SOMETHING.”
The couple met in 2022. Hunter, 21, proposed to Lenee, 23, in February of 2024. They share their lives on social media, running a YouTube channel and posting TikTok videos together.
