Chicago Sky star Angel Reese admits she was initially speechless when she met Rihanna for the first time.
Reese made the confession during the latest episode of her “Unapologetically Angel” podcast, telling her guest Coco Jones that she “didn’t have any words” for the music and fashion icon when they met.
For those unaware, Reese met Rihanna during the 38th annual FN Achievement Awards on Dec. 5, during which the WNBA All-Star asked if she and the Fenty Beauty founder could collaborate.
Apparently, it took a lot for Reese to say that to Rihanna, with the All-Star forward sharing that her mouth was shut and she didn’t know what to say when they met.
“I met Rihanna yesterday for the first time,” Reese said in the taped episode. “My mouth, I couldn’t even, I didn’t have any words.”
“I was like, ‘I wanna work with you.’ And that’s all I could say. She’s like, ‘Let’s do it.’ And I said, ‘Bet.'”
Coco Jones, for her part, shared her understanding of why Angel Reese felt that way. She pointed out that it’s a normal reaction when meeting people that one admires or looks up to.
“We be like that with Beyonce and Rihanna,” Jones explained. “It’s like, to you, that is somebody you hold to a high esteem.”

Chicago Sky forward Angel Reese (5) looks to pass the ball against the Las Vegas Aces.
While Reese was star-struck during her moment with Rihanna, the important thing is she was able to compose herself and ask the music icon to collaborate. Now, fans will just have to wait to see the two work together.
