On the newest episode of the talk show The View, the hosts took on the topic of President Joe Biden and his decision to pardon his son Hunter Biden for his felony convictions.
While most of the hosts supported Biden’s decision, Alyssa Farah Griffin took issue with him “lying” about whether or not he intended to pardon his son, claiming that it set a bad “precedent,” leading Whoopi Goldberg to call her out.

In reaction to Biden’s decision, hosts Ana Navarro and Sunny Hostin were very much in support of it, while Goldberg said, “It’s a president’s prerogative.”

She talked about the number of pardons Donald Trump gave during his first presidency, adding, “I’m not sure why the pearl-clutching is happening now…It seems kinda foolish. You kind of knew he was going to do it, given all that’s happened, but maybe I’m just kooky.”

Farah Griffin presented her take on the situation, citing personal experience with a close family member who dealt with addiction-related offenses when she was younger.
“I think this feeds the notion to a lot of this country that there’s simply a different set of rules for folks in power,” she said of Biden’s pardon. “That’s not how it is for everyday folks.”
The 35-year-old then called out Biden for repeating a “lie” about his intention to pardon Biden, and after Hostin and Navarro shared their thoughts, she brought it up again, leading Goldberg to say, “I’d stop calling it a lie.”
The debate continued, with Goldberg eventually ending the conversation by saying, “I can’t believe that this is what’s freaking people out.”
She compared the scale of outrage about Biden’s pardon with the fact that Trump has been convicted of felonies, concluding with the statement, “I’m noticing the man who would not normally be able to even vote for president is the president.”
The hosts of The View tackle trending topics in the news and culture on every episode, and occasionally, it leads to tense debates like this one.
