Whoopi Goldberg would leave The View and happily retire if she could.

Whoopi Goldberg, 69, says she's 'having a hard time' financially and can't afford to retire from The View | Daily Mail Online

But the Sister Act star – who turns 69 today – has admitted that like most Americans, she can’t afford to do that.

‘If I had all the money in the world, I would not be here, OK? So, I’m a working person, you know?,’ she told the audience on the November 12 episode of the CBS talk show.

Goldberg’s most recent salary is currently unknown, but it was reported to be in the $5 to $6 million range back in 2016.

‘I appreciate that people are having a hard time. Me too. I work for a living,’ Goldberg said following a discussion about Donald Trump‘s second presidency and all the working class Americans who inexplicably voted for him.
She explained: ‘My kid has to feed her family. My great-granddaughter has to be fed by her family. I know it’s hard out there.’

‘We talk to people all the time who say, “This is what’s bothering me.” But the thing that’s bothering everybody should not be the thing that puts 85% of other people in danger. I think that’s what we’re saying,’ she elaborated.

The comments come after grocers got angry at the Ghost store after she called them ‘pigs’ over the rising costs of food.

‘The folks that own the groceries are pigs,’ she said as she blamed them for rising prices at supermarkets on last Thursday’s show.

‘Your pocketbook is bad, not because the Bidens did anything. Not because the economy is bad. Your grocery bills are what they are because the folks that own the groceries are pigs,’ Goldberg said.

Meanwhile, The Color Purple actress is continuing her pledge to never say Trump’s name, which has been her motto since he first got elected in 2016.
After his win last week, Goldberg stated ‘that’s not going to change.’

Discussing the election results with her co-hosts, Goldberg expressed her disappointment that ‘people didn’t come out’ to vote for Kamala Harris.

In 2018, Goldberg admitted that she never says Trump’s name, telling CNN’s The Axe Files that she ‘can’t’ bear to say it or call him ‘President’.

But her co-host Sunny Hostin, 56, took her frustration one step further, placing the blame on white women and Latino men.

Whoopi Goldberg tells Travis Kelce haters to ‘shut up’

‘I think [Trump’s victory] had nothing to do with policy, I think this was a referendum on cultural resentment in this country,’ Hostin said.

‘Black women tried to save this country again, last night… what we do not have is white women, who voted about 52 per cent for Donald Trump – uneducated white women is my understanding.’

She added: ‘You have Latino men actually, voting more for him.’

She then asked ABC political news director Rick Klein: ‘So why do you think uneducated white women voting against their reproductive health freedoms, and why do you think Latino men voted in favor of someone who is going to deport a majority of his community?’
