During CMA Fest in Nashville, you’re almost guaranteed to find every big name in the country music scene performing. This year was no exception, with numerous country sensations delivering standout performances and featuring many unexpected and memorable collaborations. One unforgettable moment was when Lainey Wilson and Terri Clark took the stage together to perform Clark’s hit, “Poor, Poor Pitiful Me.”

Although “Poor Poor Pitiful Me” is often associated with Terri Clark, the song actually originated from Warren Zevon, who first wrote and released it on his self-titled album in 1976. Two years later, Linda Ronstadt achieved significant success with her rendition of the song.
It wasn’t until 1996 that Clark released her version as the lead single from her album Just the Same. Clark’s rendition soared to number one on the American music charts, marking her second chart-topping hit.
Wilson and Clark singing together was a perfect tribute to both modern and classic country, as they graced the main stage at Nissan Stadium during country music’s biggest weekend.
Recently, Lainey Wilson has been making waves with appearances at CMA Fest and her world tour, the “Country’s Cool Again” tour. However, her most significant recent achievement was being inducted into the Grand Ole Opry.
Wilson received the prestigious invitation to join the Opry during the Season 25 finale of “The Voice” on May 21st, where she performed her new song, “Hang Tight Honey.” Country legends Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood had the honor of officially inducting Lainey Wilson as the newest member of the Grand Ole Opry on June 7.
Their iconic performance was featured during the CMA Fest TV special, which aired on ABC on Tuesday, June 25 at 8 PM ET/7 PM CT. You can watch the official video of their performance below!
