Taylor Fritz and girlfriend Morgan Riddle experienced a nightmarish incident in London

Morgan Riddle, girlfriend of American tennis ace Taylor Fritz, has opened up on their ordeal after the apartment they were staying in during a vacation in London was broken into. The loved-up pair were enjoying a stay in the British capital when they were awoken through the night by commotion outside their door.

The current world No. 6 men’s singles player had recently been playing across the English Channel at the Paris Masters, where he fell to a second round defeat. Earlier in the year, the 27-year-old also reached his first ever Grand Slam final – as he reached the U.S. Open showpiece, where he eventually lost to Jannik Sinner.

Enjoying some down time after his recent exertions in France, Fritz and his partner were left shaken up after an attempt was made to enter their Airbnb. Taking to Instagram to give her account of the incident, Riddle recounted an individual trying to crack the code on the door of their apartment, with a second lock having allegedly been removed.

Looking back over a harrowing evening, she said: “At 4am this morning taylor and I wake up to someone trying to enter the code and break into the front door of the airbnb we’re staying at in London’ I tell taylor to run and lock the secondary lock as they’re standing outside trying to get in and ITS BEEN REMOVED???”

The social media personality, who has been in a relationship with Fritz since 2020, also recalled that her boyfriend picked up his tennis racket as the assailant tried to gained access. Posting a picture of her beau with his equipment, she quipped: “Of all potential weapons in the house this man grabs a racket.”

“Airbnb is SO unsafe. they are intentionally targeted in many cities,” she continued, as she questioned the safety of Airbnb apartments. “Houses are nice for longer stays but please just stay in a hotel, especially if you are travelling alone or only with girls. I swore I’d never stay in one again after my past experiences and clearly didn’t learn my lesson.”

Riddle has been a committed supporter of Fritz’s efforts on the tennis court during their relationship, taking to social media to praise her love after his U.S. Open heartbreak. She posted on social media: “What an amazing week. @taylor_fritz i could not be more proud of you and grateful to support you. your dedication and drive inspired me so much every day. forever your biggest fan.

Meanwhile, the American superstar spoke in glowing terms about eventual tournament champion Sinner. He said: “Congratulations to Jannik – he was too good. I know we have been waiting for an American champion for a long time – sorry I couldn’t get it done. I am going to keep working and hopefully I will get it done next time.”

“Not yet. There’s obviously a lot of positives, and when I get some time to cool down, then I’ll be happy about the fact that I made it to the finals and stuff like that. But right now I’m pretty just disappointed in how, like, just a lot of things on the court, how I played, how I hit certain shots. It sucks.

“And I’m not saying that it necessarily would have made a difference. I don’t know if it would have, but I just would have liked to have played better and given myself a better chance.”

He added: “It’s really disappointing right now. I feel like the American fans have been wanting a men’s champion for a long time, and I just, I don’t know, I’m pretty upset with how I played. I feel like, I don’t know, I feel like I almost let a lot of people down.”
