The Miami Heat recently made an effort to honor their former guard, Dwyane Wade, which has generated conversation among fans. The team unveiled a statue of Wade outside the Kaseya Center; however, the artwork, unfortunately, does not closely resemble the cherished former player.

Charles Barkley roasts Dwyane Wade's statue

During a recent episode of TNT’s Tip-Off show, former NBA star Charles Barkley joined the critics. Barkley didn’t hold back while expressing his thoughts on the statue.

“It’s a great honor, but they gotta take that thing down. If you made an ugly statue, that’s what it would look like. That thing is awful,” Barkley said.

The statue stands at an impressive 8 feet tall and is made of bronze. It is accompanied by a wall that highlights Wade’s numerous career achievements, reminding fans of his contributions to the game. However, even Barkley found humor in the statue’s design.

“The statue was so bad they had to put all his stats behind it so you know who it was,” Barkley added.

After Barkley’s lighthearted comment about Wade’s statue, most NBA fans found themselves agreeing with him. Many believe Barkley was simply being honest in his assessment of the statue.

During a recent interview with ClutchPoints, Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler shared his thoughts on the team’s recognition of Dwyane Wade with the unveiling of a statue outside the Kaseya Center. Butler expressed his admiration for Wade’s contributions while hinting at the possibility of more tributes to come for other Heat legends.

“I like it… What he’s done for the city—I think it’s crazy that he’s the first one to get a statue out there. I’m pretty sure he won’t be the last one to get one,” Butler said.

Wade played 15 seasons of his NBA career with the Heat. Apart from the Heat, he also played with the Chicago Bulls and Cleveland Cavaliers.
