Caitlin Clark made some serious waves around the basketball world with her sensational rookie campaign at the WNBA level.
The Indiana Fever’s No. 1 overall pick wowed basketball fans at every turn while she shattered all-time league records as an All-Star guard in her first professional season.
On Thursday, Clark was officially named the 2024 Kia WNBA Rookie or the Year. The race was near unanimous as she earned 66 of 67 total votes.
With her Rookie of the Year win, Clark joins a list of elite WNBA/NBA company.
Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic, a member of the ROY club, delivered a congratulatory message to Clark on Friday.
“Caitlin, congratulations on an amazing season. Rookie of the Year is a big honor. You deserve it. Congratulations,” Doncic said in the video message.
“Luka knows greatness,” another said.
“The NBA (and everyone else) treats Caitlin Clark FAR BETTER than the WNBA!” another added.
Clark finished her rookie season averaging 19.2 points, 5.2 rebounds and a league-leading 8.4 assists per game. She set the all-time single-game assist record (19), single-season assist record (337) and became the first rookie in WNBA history to record a triple-double.
In Doncic’s 2018-19 NBA Rookie of the Year season, he averaged 21.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 6.0 assists per game. In Year 6 this past season, the five-time All-Star averaged a league-leading 33.9 points per game.
