Novak Djokovic’s children have been in the stands to watch their father win Grand Slam titles – but his wife, Jelena, has now opened up on their family life

Novak Djokovic’s wife, Jelena, has shared that their children have been “bragging” about their famous father. The couple, who have been together for two decades, are parents to Stefan, 10, and seven year old Tara.
Jelena opened up about the family’s sacrifices to support Djokovic’s successful tennis career, which continues into his late 30s. As they’ve grown, Stefan and Tara have often been seen in their father’s player box during matches, with Stefan showing a keen interest in the sport himself.
They were present to see their father’s Olympic gold medal win earlier this year, and have shared many memorable moments with him after Grand Slam victories. Despite this, Jelena says they don’t fully grasp the extent of their father’s influence.
However, this doesn’t stop them from boasting about their dad. “They are very young, so they don’t understand a lot of important things that he represents for people,” she told La Nacion.
“But they do understand that he is a hard worker and he is very respected. Because they see him when they travel and there are a lot of fans and they see the attention he gets. So they understand it.

As CEO of the Novak Djokovic Foundation, Jelena has also overheard some intriguing comments from the kids: “And I can hear them saying, ‘You know who my dad is.’
“It’s kind of childish bragging, but the other meaning they are learning through the work of the foundation. Because this is what Novak wants as well, for his legacy to be to change the world for children. Because he once had a dream as a child and he achieved it.”
While Stefan and Tara have relished seeing their father in action, Djokovic has begun to scale back his tour participation, opting for a more selective schedule.
His 2024 season seems to be already on hold after withdrawing from the Paris Masters, casting serious doubt on his ATP Finals qualification prospects.
Earlier this year, he demonstrated his desire to prioritize his personal life by withdrawing from the Miami Open, stating that he wanted to “balance his private and professional schedule”. However, the world No.4’s spouse has now confessed that she’s content staying home with the children while he pursues his career
“I’m travelling less now. I’m travelling less because of the kids. There are so many tournaments and yet his career is still going on,” she elaborated.
“He’s now choosing the right places to go. It’s not my business. He’ll do what he wants for as long as he wants. I support him. And the kids love what he does and are very proud of him. In fact, if we can help him stay longer, we will.”
