Alex de Minaur proposed to Katie Boulter weeks before the Australian Open.

Katie Boulter had a humbling message for her partner as he prepared for his opening match at the Australian Open.
Alex de Minaur will headline the Rod Laver Arena night session on Tuesday as he begins his campaign to win his home Grand Slam tournament.
But Boulter had to remind De Minaur that he “has a fiance” after he took to social media to preview his upcoming clash.
For the first time in his career, De Minaur is a top-eight seed at a Grand Slam, and it comes at the most important one – his home tournament in Australia. The 25-year-old will start his quest for the title against dangerous Dutchman Botic van de Zandschulp on Tuesday.
The world No. 8 will open the night session on the main stadium court, Rod Laver Arena. De Minaur has been busy preparing for the first Major of the season and took to Instagram to share some snaps from his training sessions.
“Prep done… Go time now. See you on RLA tomorrow night,” the Australian wrote alongside a photo dump. The first picture showed him hitting the ball while wearing a vest, with his bicep flexed.
But his fiance wasn’t impressed. De Minaur proposed to Boulter during the off-season and she cheekily reminded him that he was already taken.
“Stop trying to thirst trap you have a fiance,” the British No. 1 joked in the comments. Boulter will also be in action on Tuesday as she faces Canada’s Rebecca Marino in her opening match.
Boulter and De Minaur both started their seasons at the United Cup, a mixed-gender team tournament that pits nations against each other. For the second year running, Britain and Australia were drawn in the same group.
It meant the couple had to cheer against each other, something they both admitted they struggled with. Boulter won her singles match but Australia came out on top in the tie as De Minaur won the men’s singles and then teamed up with Olivia Gadecki to win the doubles.
However, team GB advanced out of the group stage with a better overall record. Boulter did not compete in the doubles, meaning she didn’t play against De Minaur.
“I feel like I’ve actually lost a lot of sleep recently over the thought of playing my fiance in doubles so I’m so tired and just very happy to get through this rubber,” she said at the time.
ATP No. 8 De Minaur had previously told Express Sport that he was dreading the tie. “I’m not looking forward to it, I don’t think either of us are looking forward to it. It’s a tough situation for both of us,” he said last month.
Luckily, Boulter and De Minaur no longer have to worry about playing on opposing teams. The partners will likely be keeping an eye on each other’s matches when they begin their respective campaigns at Melbourne Park on Tuesday.
