As noted on George Strait’s official website, his legacy spans over 30 albums and 400+ songs that have made fans fall in love with his music. The country legend’s career is filled with countless achievements, from holding the record for the most No. 1 singles to landing a Top 10 hit every year for three decades. It seems there’s truly nothing George Strait can’t do!
While George Strait, “The King of Country,” has many songs to choose from, one holds a special place as his personal favorite. Strait revealed this fan-favorite at his recent show at Texas A&M’s Kyle Field in College Station, Texas—a night when he also set an impressive new record.
On June 15, George Strait made history with the largest audience for a ticketed concert in the U.S., as 110,905 fans gathered to see him perform, breaking a record set nearly 50 years ago. During his set, Strait was informed of the record-breaking attendance and shared his excitement with the crowd, making an unforgettable night even more memorable.
Taking in how many fans were in front of him, Strait joked, “I’m scared!” before laughing and following up with:
“That’s amazing! Never have we ever played in front of a crowd this big.”
Ever wonder what George Strait’s favorite song is? During his recent record-breaking concert, Strait shared the answer with the massive crowd right before performing it.
“I’ve been asked many, many times what’s my favorite song that I ever recorded. And it’s this one right here. It’s called ‘Amarillo By Morning,’” he announced.
The crowd erupted in cheers, thrilled to hear the Texas legend’s favorite tune. Released as a single in 1982, *“Amarillo By Morning”* quickly became one of Strait’s most beloved songs, cherished by fans for decades.
