Shamed Strictly star Wynne Evans has hired the same crisis PR expert tasked with saving the career of another of the show’s outcasts, Graziano Di Prima.

The Welshman, 53, was axed from the Strictly Come Dancing Live Tour on Tuesday amid the furore of his vile x-rated remark towards host Janette Manara at the show’s launch, which the Mail on Sunday revealed.

And now Evans has taken on veteran publicist Mark Borkowski in a bid to ease the crisis surrounding him.

Last year, Borkowski was hired by pro dancer Di Prima, 30, after he was sacked by Strictly for verbally and physically abusing his celebrity partner Zara McDermott.

He instructed the Italian hunk to lie low and protect his mental health and a similar strategy is likely to be deployed on Evans.

Indeed, fears for the singer’s well-being have been raised by his Strictly co-stars in the wake of the scandal, especially as Wynne has openly discussed struggling with his mental health previously following his marriage split.

It was revealed on Tuesday Evans had broken up from his girlfriend Liz Brookes, 50, who’s been credited for upping his morale after his painful divorce.

Evans is also taking a break from his BBC Wales radio show with comedian Robin Morgan, who has covered for him in the past, presenting in his place.

The star, famous for starring in the Go Compare adverts, has apologised for making the remarks to Manrara, who has yet to comment about the incident.

He said: ‘My language was inappropriate and unacceptable, for which I sincerely apologise.’

MailOnline revealed on Wednesday that celebrities, influencers and sports stars can buy ‘cancel culture’ insurance for the first time – but tainted public figures such as Prince Andrew are ‘uninsurable’.

Stars can now pay for a policy with 24/7 emergency hotline, security advice and dedicated crisis PR support if they find themselves at the centre of a national or global scandal.

The landmark policy, which is also being offered to businesses, is underwritten by Samphire Risk, a Lloyd’s of London backed independent agency that specialises in products for high-value clients in danger of extortion, kidnap, hostage-crises, terrorism and travel to dangerous countries.

Wynne broke his silence on the claims with a statement on Tuesday, saying he had agreed with the BBC to ' take some time out' from his radio show and the Strictly live tour 'to prioritise my wellbeing' (pictured on tour with partner Katya Jones)

Borkowski, arguably the UK’s leading publicist, heads up the communications operation via his team at Borkowski PR in London.

This week Selena Gomez deleted a video of herself crying over Donald Trump’s ICE deportations after a social media pile-on.

Justin Baldoni is at the centre of a row about his alleged behaviour on the set of It Ends with Us, sparked by Blake Lively’s lawsuit, which he is fighting with a counterclaim of libel.

And earlier this month Gregg Wallace was forced to step down as host of MasterChef in the UK over allegations of inappropriate behaviour on set – made worse by his own response: an Instagram video of him blaming middle class women of a certain age.

Mr Borkowski told MailOnline: ‘If Justin Baldoni and Gregg Wallace had this policy and found themselves in the situation they are in that they would have proper, comprehensive and fully professional care overnight’, Mr Borkowski said.

‘Instead you have case of Mr Wallace and end up doing it all yourself, with disastrous consequences’.

The Mail On Sunday revealed last week that Wynne had made a vile joke about Strictly star Janette Manrara.

Wynne – the tenor known for the Go Compare ads and a BBC radio presenter – was recorded crudely suggesting a three-way sex session with presenter Janette, using the hugely demeaning term ‘spit roast’.

In the MoS film, Wynne stands in the middle of a line-up of 20 celebrities and dancers as Janette, who hosts the TV spin-off Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two, is summoned to join them. As she approaches, Wynne warns her with a grin: ‘Not too close to Jamie [Borthwick]!’

He then pulls a suggestive face at the actor, behind Janette’s back, as she moves between them. It is at this point that Wynne makes his disgusting joke at her expense.

Seconds later, her dancer husband Aljaz Skorjanec, who was standing nearby, asks her: ‘Darling, are you OK?’ She replies curtly: ‘Yep.’

Janette’s spokesperson said the host had been ‘unaware of this comment by Wynne’ which was audible to our reporter filming with a mobile phone 20 yards away.

Following the widespread revulsion caused by the revelations in the Mail story, Wynne was replaced on his morning radio show on Monday by comedian Robin Morgan, who also stood in for Wynne while he appeared on Strictly last year.

A source told MailOnline the break was sparked by the furore surrounding his comment, plus the fact he is still mourning his older brother Huw, combined with the physical toll of being on the road.

‘He’s had repeated warnings about his behaviour and told to rein it in. He’s not been taking it in, in this day and age the BBC have to be seen taking action and safeguard everyone,’ an insider has now told The Sun.

‘He’s had a tough time with the death of his brother and people should give him some slack, he is going to take this time off to do some self reflection.

‘He has a lot of support from a lot of the backstage dancers. It’s been a really sad ending to what has been a really fun tour.’

The following day, the Welsh star was rumoured to have been axed from the Strictly live tour.

Later that day, he confirmed his departure from the tour in a grovelling statement.

He said: ‘I’ve agreed with the BBC that I’ll take some time out from my radio show and the Strictly Live tour, as well as my other public commitments, to prioritise my wellbeing.

‘I am deeply sorry for the pain my inappropriate actions have caused, and plan to take this time for self-reflection.

‘Apologies to those I won’t get to see at the remaining performances and I’m grateful to my fellow tour gang for all the amazing support they have given me.’

Professional dancer Katya Jones, who was partnered with Wynne on Strictly, reposted the message and wrote: ‘Let’s show humanity and consideration.’

She added that she would miss Wynne in the post to her Instagram Stories.
