The 2023-24 season has not been smooth sailing for the New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson. After an offseason filled with anticipation, Zion was sidelined with a hamstring injury, forcing him to play only six games so far. Amid the struggles, the young star made headlines once again, parting ways with his representation at Creative Artists Agency, reportedly due to his desire to join the New York Knicks.
Despite the controversies surrounding him, Zion’s talent has not gone unnoticed by his peers. One such peer, Boston Celtics star Jrue Holiday, who played alongside Zion during his rookie season with the Pelicans, praised the 24-year-old’s incredible talent. Holiday also shared a perspective that could take Williamson’s game to the next level.
“I think, first and foremost, Zion is one of the most talented players I’ve ever seen. His athleticism and how he can penetrate the opposing paint is extraordinary. Playing alongside him in his rookie year was amazing,” Holiday said on ” Podcast P.”
“I would like to see Zion be a bit more active on the defensive end. This isn’t a criticism but a personal viewpoint. I think his game on offense is well set. So, he should challenge himself on defense. This would not only highlight the talent that this kid possesses but also inspire his teammates. It would surely elevate his game,” he added.
Shams Charania Provided Injury Update On Zion Williamson
Zion Williamson’s recovery from a hamstring injury is still ongoing, and the star forward is not expected to return to the court anytime soon. Shams Charania provided an update during his appearance on “The Pat McAfee Show” on Tuesday, stating that Williamson is still “not close” to making his comeback.
“[Zion Williamson] is still out about a month later. He’s not close to coming back. He’s not going to come back this week or next week. That hamstring, it’s been a chronic issue for him,” Williamson said.
