The Detroit Lions season ended on Saturday and since then everyone has been wondering what’s going to happen next with this roster and what players could be lost.
The rumblings about retirement actually started ahead of the injury and maybe it would have happened if the Lions won the Super Bowl, but now thanks to his wife Sara, it looks like he’s not about to retire at all.
Year 14 you say? Blue and silver hearts you say? We’ll have to see where this thing goes. Hopefully, it goes the way for Zeitler back in Detroit.
What we know now is that Zeitler was only on a one-year deal with the Lions in 2024. If they want him back in 2024, it would be a shock if they didn’t, they’ll have to get him signed up on a new deal ahead of free agency.
Zeitler started 16 games for the Lions in 2024 and he ended the season allowing just 18 pressures and five sacks. Pro Football Focus had him graded out at 86.8 for the year. That’s the sixth highest grade among guards in 2024.
While Zeitler did not get a Pro Bowl nod this year like he did last year, he was voted in as a third alternate.
With all that in mind, getting Zeitler back is something the Lions really need to do. It would allow the team to focus more on other positions and keep their strongest unit together. We’ll see what happens.
