Davante Adams has been the subject of trade rumors for over a year now. It’s well-known by now that he orchestrated a trade to the Raiders in 2022 so that he could play with former Fresno State teammate Derek Carr, who was released in the 2023 offseason before signing with the New Orleans Saints.
Adams has been widely linked to the New York Jets, where his old friend and teammate Aaron Rodgers plays. In fact, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported last November that the Raiders shut the Jets down after inquiring about a potential trade for the All-Pro receiver.
On Monday afternoon, Brown seemingly hinted at Adams joining his old team in the Pittsburgh Steeles with this interesting post on X/Twitter:
Folks know always to take anything Antonio Brown reports with a grain of salt, but it’s worth noting that he was first to break the news that free agent quarterback Russell Wilson was set to sign with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But Adams would be a great fit for a Pittsburgh team that’s 3-0 but still in need of more receiving help alongside George Pickens. Adams turns 32 in December and surely wants to play fo a contender at this phase of his career.
Adams would join a Steelers offense led by Justin Fields, George Pickens, Pat Freiermuth and two capable 1,000-yard rushers in Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren. Pittsburgh hasn’t had a receiver of Adams’ caliber since Brown himself in 2018, and the Las Vegas star could easily help them emerge as a legitimate threat to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Davante Adams Is Off To A Strong Start For The Raiders
Over the Raiders’ first three games of 2024, the six-time Pro Bowler has 18 receptions for 209 yards and one touchdown. The Raiders (1-2) will try to get back to .500 when they host the Cleveland Browns on Sunday.
