Prince Louis has a very grown up hobby – and dad William couldn’t be prouder
As Prince William was introduced to members of the charity, which operates at Sunbury Cricket Club, he let slip that his son ‘loves’ the sport
Prince Louis has taken up a very grown-up hobby, and his dad, Prince William, couldn’t be prouder.
During a visit to the food distribution charity Surplus to Supper in Surrey, the Prince of Wales shared a heartwarming detail about his youngest son’s interests, revealing that five-year-old Prince Louis has developed a love for cricket. As Prince William was introduced to members of the charity, which operates at Sunbury Cricket Club, he let slip that his son “loves” the sport. This sweet revelation came just days before Prince Louis’ sixth birthday on 23rd April. It’s clear that the young royal is already showing signs of following in his family’s footsteps when it comes to a passion for sports.
The Wales family is no stranger to sporting enthusiasm. Prince William, Princess Kate, and their children are known to be avid fans of football, rugby, and tennis. Over the past few years, Prince George, 11, and Princess Charlotte, nine, have attended major sporting events with their parents, such as Euro 2020, the Commonwealth Games in 2022, and Wimbledon. With this sporty background, it’s hardly surprising that Prince Louis is taking a keen interest in cricket.

Prince Louis’ love for sport seems to run in the family, and it’s not just cricket that has captured his interest. In February 2022, Princess Kate revealed that both Prince George and Prince Louis are enthusiastic about rugby, describing her youngest as “kamikaze” in his approach to the game. During a visit to an England Rugby training session at Twickenham Stadium, Kate shared: “They’re all enjoying it, Louis is kamikaze, we’re worrying about when he gets older, he’ll be in the middle of everything.” Her pride in her sons’ sporting enthusiasm was evident, especially as she is the patron of England Rugby.
Prince William’s appearance at the charity event in April marked his first official engagement since Princess Kate’s cancer diagnosis was made public in March. The doting father took time to reassure well-wishers about his wife’s condition. One volunteer, Rachel Candappa, handed him two get-well cards, one for the Princess of Wales and another for the King, who is also undergoing cancer treatment. Prince William, visibly touched, said, “Thank you very much, that’s kind.” When Rachel urged him to “take care of her,” William replied, “I will.”
The family spent the Easter holidays together at their Norfolk home, taking time to adjust to Princess Kate’s diagnosis and supporting her through her treatment. Despite these challenging times, it’s clear that Prince Louis’ new hobby is bringing joy and pride to his family.
