Miami Dolphins DT Calais Campbell and standout wide receiver Tyreek Hill got extremely lucky last Sunday.

The Tyreek incident from Sunday would’ve had an even greater impact had the Miami Dolphins not stepped in.

Miami-Dade police officers had all intentions to do more than detain wide receiver Tyreek Hill and defensive tackle Calais Campbell after Hill was pulled over for a traffic stop on Sunday. They were planning on putting them in squad cars and taking them to the station to get their mugshots.

If that had happened, both of them would’ve been unavailable to play in Miami’s Week 1 game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Hard Rock Stadium.

Omar Kelly of the Miami Herald said on “PFT Live” that the Dolphins organization made sure that wide receiver Tyreek Hill and defensive tackle Calais Campbell weren’t taken in for booking, processing, and other procedures that would’ve sidelined them for Week 1.

Kelly also added that since the Dolphins are a major employer of off-duty Miami-Dade officers, that aided Miami in getting their players free.

It’s a good thing that Miami scored 13 unanswered points in the second half to give the club a 20-17 victory.

That does not happen without Tyreek Hill since he had seven catches for 130 yards with his touchdown, per his stats on ESPN.

Tyreek Hill Says He Declined Apology From Officer

Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill addressed Sunday’s incident in which he was handcuffed after a traffic stop.

Hill was handcuffed and placed face down on the ground by police during a traffic stop because he was not “immediately cooperative” with officers.

Speaking to reporters, Hill said he declined an apology from the police officer who detained him before Sunday’s game.

“They already tried, but we declined,” Hill said of the attempt by the other side to apologize. “It’s up to everybody else’s judgment to have their own opinion about how they feel about the video.”
