We witnessed a very special scene between Martin St-Louis and Patrik Laine live from the Montreal Canadiens’ locker room after the game against the Islanders.
After his first game at the Bell Centre as a Canadiens player, Laine was presented with the game puck directly by his head coach, Martin St-Louis.
A truly beautiful moment.
In a press conference after the game, Martin St-Louis admitted that he was surprised at how genuinely excited he was about Patrik Laine’s return to action.
He tried not to set his expectations too high, but clearly, the big Finnish forward delivered the goods.
A Successful Debut for Patrik Laine with the Canadiens
See the statement in question:
“St-Louis stated that he didn’t want to get too excited about having Patrik Laine back in the lineup over the past few weeks, but when he received a text message from head athletic therapist Jim Ramsay on Sunday saying that Laine was ready to play, he got excited!”- Priyanta Emrith
Martin St-Louis also made a significant gesture toward Laine by immediately placing him on the first power-play unit, replacing Kirby Dach.
Let’s just say it was a good decision.
Even though Laine seems to think he didn’t play that well, there’s absolutely no doubt that he was dominant and in control on the power play.
It’s no coincidence that he has been considered one of the top power-play performers in the NHL for several years.
We can’t wait to see what the future holds for him because Patty Laine truly has the potential to become one of the best wingers in the world.
