On Sunday, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers hosted the Philadelphia Eagles at Raymond James Stadium. Tampa Bay came out on top mainly because of quarterback Baker Mayfield’s amazing efforts.
It was a very hot day, with temperatures reaching 100 degrees due to some intense humidity. Of course, that’s an insane temperature to be in rather than having to play a football game.
Immediately after the game, Mayfield was featured in a post-game interview with reporter Erin Andrews. Near the end, they talked about what it’s like to play in that kind of heat and how you prepare for it.
That’s when Mayfield delivered the perfect line, saying, “I changed my pants at halftime,” which gave Andrews a good laugh.
That change of pants might have helped Mayfield finish off a great day in the second half of the game.
He completed 30 of 47 passes for 347 yards, two touchdowns, zero interceptions, and a passer rating of 100.2.
Perhaps Mayfield will need to change his wardrobe for every game if it means he keeps putting up numbers like this. The Buccaneers improved to 3-1 on the season, while the Eagles fell to 2-2.
Baker Mayfield Appears Well Worth The Contract Extension
Many viewed it as a risky move when Tampa Bay gave Mayfield a three-year $100 million extension after a solid 2023 season where he led them to the playoffs.
However, it appears to be a great investment so far.
Through four games, he’s completed 91 passes for 978 yards, eight touchdowns, and just two interceptions.
He is on the path to leading Tampa Bay to yet another playoff berth in his second straight year with the team and will have resurrected what was previously thought to be a dead career.
