In 2021, Odell Beckham Jr. made a very risky decision when finalizing the terms of his contract with the Los Angeles Rams.
Of course, he would quickly sign with the team after being released by the Cleveland Browns, and after winning a Super Bowl with the team, it certainly looked like the right decision.
However, he came under intense scrutiny when he opted to get his $750,000 base salary in Bitcoin. According to Law Stein Anderson, when he signed the contract, it was worth $64,293.
It was a questionable move at the time, and it only got worse: At one point in 2022, Bitcoin had dropped to $16,000.
However, Beckham never decided to sell his currency, and it is now paying off amazingly.
He recently went to X to show that Bitcoin is now worth $92,017.7 and added the caption “Soooo who said taking my Rams salary in bitcoin was dumb again?”
Of course, even without Beckham’s smart move, it’s not like he would be desperate for money.
Throughout his career, he has earned just over $101 million, with his best contract with the Browns, where he earned $45 million through his two-and-a-half years with the team.
The Writing Is On The Way For Odell Beckham Jr.’s Career
Odell was one of the most iconic wide receivers in the NFL for a decade, but his career is close to being done.
In 2024, with the Dolphins, he recorded five receptions for 32 yards and one touchdown.
It’s certainly a fall from grace, but at 32 years old, this is typically when someone in Beckham’s position starts to decline.
It would not be a surprise if this were Odell’s last year in the league.
